Since we can’t seem to find resolutions to the real issues affecting the country, maybe this one’s easier to deal with.
“Kabataan patry-list Rep. Terry Ridon said that he received a ‘dressing down’ from Senator Franklin Drilon in front of his colleagues at a dinner party hosted by Aurora Rep. Bellaflor Angara-Castillo on Saturday, September 13,” reports Gil C. Cabacungan and Leila B. Salaverria in Philippine Daily Inquirer.
Ridon said that when he saw Drilon at the party, he was hoping that the senator “would not recognize him as the one who was leading calls for a congressional inquiry into Hilmarc’s Construction Corp.’s government contracts, including the Iloilo Convention Center (ICC).”
The report explained: “The convention center, which is nearing completion for next year’s Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation summit, is a pet project of Drilon.”
However, he had no choice but to stand up and introduce himself when Drilon approached his group at the party. Ridon related, “It was awkward but I stood up along with the other congressmen when he approached us.”
According to Ridon, as soon as Drilon knew who he was, he went on a tirade.
Drilon suupposedly told Ridon: “Jesus Christ, why do you keep insulting me? What did I do to you?”
The report noted: “Ridon said Drilon repeatedly said this while pointing an accusing finger at him.”
Ridon is now demanding a public apology from Drilon.
However, Drilon says he did not bully Ridon. In a text message, the senator said, “I deny that. As the band was noisy, and I could hardly hear, I had to speak in a loud voice to be heard.”
