“Makati Mayor Junjun Binay is appealing for fairness in the ongoing investigation on the allegedly overpriced Makati City Hall Building II and other corruption allegations against his father, Vice President Jejomar Binay,” reports ABS-CBNnews.com.
On Fri, jan 23, Senator TG Guingona issued a “final call” to him and six other city officials to attend the hearings or else face arrest for contempt.

In response to the “final call,” Binay issued a statement on the same day. He said, “With all due respect to the Senate, all I am asking for is due process. If you may recall, I appeared before the sub-committee and answered the questions from the senators for six hours. However, I was either cut off or denied the chance to reply. The senators simply wanted to humiliate me.”
The report noted: “Binay also questioned the unfair treatment of Makati city officials by the Senate Blue Ribbon subcommittee while witnesses who were repeatedly caught lying under oath were unpunished.”
