Junjun Binay gets a second suspension order from the Ombudsman

His lawyers think this is a weak case because the Makati Science High School building went through the proper bidding process.

So if that’s the case, will Makati Mayor Jejomar Erwin ‘Junjun’ Binay be confident enough to leave his room at the Makati City Hall and allow the legal process to take place?

Junjun Binay and other city officials were issued a second suspension order by the Office of the Ombudsman on Monday, Jun 29, for the alleged anomalous construction of the Makati Science High School building.

“This marks the second time that the Ombudsman issued such order against the Makati mayor,” notes Aries Joseph Hegina on Inquirer.net.

Last March, the Ombudsman issued a similar suspension order against Binay and other city officials for the Makati City Hall Building 2, which resulted in Makati having two mayors for a few days.

Binay camped out in his room inside the Makati City Hall, and did not cede power to Vice Mayor Romulo ‘Kid’ Pena. Eventually, the Court of Appeals issued a temporary restraining order, thereby stopping the implementation of the suspension order.

Three months later, here we are again, this time for the Makati Science High School building.

“Claro Certeza, Binay’s counsel, said that the Makati Science High School case is ‘weak’ as its construction underwent proper bidding,” continues Hegina on Inquirer.net.

Their plan now is to file an appeal before the Court of Appeals.
