This game is just heating up anew.

“Makati Mayor Junjun Binay was again a no-show in Thursday’s hearing of the Senate Blue Ribbon subcommittee investigating the Makati City Hall Building 2 and other corruption allegations against his father, Vice President Jejomar Binay,” reports ABS-CBNnews.com.

The report noted: “The subcommittee’s chairperson, Senator Aquilino Pimentel III, earlier said the younger Binay and the six others who have been snubbing the Senate probe just have to show up in Thursday’s hearing so that they will not be cited in contempt.”

Pimentel had said, “If they voluntarily appear, I will move for the withdrawal of my recommendation to cite them in contempt.”

In any case, the subcommittee recommended that Binay, Tomas Lopez, Eudeviges Baloloy, Marjorie de Veyra, Eleno Mendoza, Line dela Peña, and Bernadette Portollano be cited in contempt for repeatedly snubbing its subpoenas to them.

The report indicated that “the mother Blue Ribbon committee’s members will meet on Monday, January 26, to decide on the contempt recommendations, according to the committee’s chair, Senator Teofisto Guingona III.”

The report also explained that “at least two votes from the committee’s members are needed to cite anyone in contempt, which usually entails arrest and detention.”
