President Noynoy Aquino has declared July 29, which is a Tuesday, as a regular holiday in the country in observance of Eid’l Fitr or the Feast of Ramadan.
The report said that in Proclamation No. 826, the President affirmed that it was necessary to declare the holiday ‘in order to bring the religious and cultural significance of Eid’l Fitr to the fore of national consciousness,'” reports Genalyn Kabiling in Manila Bulletin.
The report added that “Republic Act No. 9177 declared the Feast of Ramadan as a regular holiday throughout the country. It is celebrated by the Muslim world for three days after the end of the month of fasting.”
