We’ll be the first to admit it: TV commercials make us cry — and we teared up after watching Jollibee’s latest TV ad.
The ad reminds us of two things: first, that Christmas is just around the corner, and second, that it’s that time of the year when a deluge of Overseas Filipino Workers will be flying back to be with their families.
The ad starts with an OFW in a taxi making a phone call to his wife. He is telling her that he is on his way home. The driver asks his passenger where he flew in from — Qatar — and shares his own sob story: his own son has spent his Christmases abroad for five years now.
“Iba talaga kapag kumpleto ang pamilya,” he practically sighs, as he drives into a Jollibee outlet to drop of his passenger and watch him reunite with his wife and three children.
Next frame: the OFW passenger asks the driver to join him and his family, “kami ngayon ang kapamilya mo.”
Awwww.
And so, our question (and please leave your answer in the comments box below): Where has the taxi driver’s son been spending his Christmases? Hint: 0:22.
