Jin Air plane forced to turn back to Cebu due to ‘air leak’

Just because you’re flying budget class, it doesn’t mean you have to risk your life.

On Sun, Jan 3, a plane belonging to South Korean budget carrier Jin Air — a subsidiary of South Korea’s top carrier Korean Air — was carrying 163 passengers bound from Cebu to Busan, South Korea, when it turned back shortly after take-off.

One of its doors was found to be leaking air because it wasn’t completely sealed.

“Video taken inside the South Korean passenger plane shows a gap between the door and the door frame. Thus, the plane had to turn back to Cebu, Philippines, about half an hour after taking off. Passengers say they suffered headaches and felt pain in their ears,” reports ABS-CBN News.

Passengers had to get on another plane and landed in Busan 15 hours later than scheduled. Park Mun-seong, the head of Jin Air Busan office, apologized for the incident. South Korea’s transport ministry is set to review the safety management of all of the country’s budget airlines.

We’re not sure if he’s going to resign out of embarrassment, as they do in South Korea.
