In case you forgot, this is a reminder.
“Starting today, Saturday, June 14, jeepney drivers will charge an additional 50 centavos in the minimum fare in Metro Manila and Regions 3 and 4,” reports Reinir Padua in The Philippine Star.
The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) distributed fare matrices to jeepney groups in these affected areas on Friday, June 13. Those who have not gotten their copies may get them at the LTFRB central office.
The board reminded jeepney drivers that they could not impose the fare increase if the matrix was not displayed conspicuously inside the vehicle.
Take note that “the fare increase will be PHP0.50 for the first four kilometers or from PHP8 to PHP8.50; and PHP0.10 for every succeeding kilometer or from PHP1.40 to PHP1.50, subject to certain conditions.”
The 20% discounts for senior citizens, students, and persons with disabilities still apply, which means that the minimum fare for them will be PHP6.80.
