Will anything ever come out of this?
“The Department of Justice (DOJ) has filed a PHP17.88-million tax evasion case against Jeane Napoles, daughter of alleged pork barrel scam mastermind Janet Lim-Napoles, before the Court of Tax Appeals (CTA),” reports Janvic Mateo in The Philippine Star.
CTA records show that the two counts of violation of the National Internal Revenue Code were filed before the tax court Tue, Mar 17.
The report noted: “The DOJ resolution finding probable cause to indict the young Napoles for tax evasion was released on Sept. 11, 2014. The DOJ ordered the filing of charges against her for allegedly failing to file an income tax return from 2011 to 2012.
The case stemmed from the PHP32-million tax evasion case lodged against her by Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR). The DOJ, however, approved the filing of the case on basic tax liabilities amounting to PHP17.88 million.”
Just recently, Justice Secretary Leila de Lima said she ordered the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to look into reports that Napoles has returned from London.
