Japanese student raped in Baguio; suspect found dead

A Japanese student reported being raped by a taxi driver in a Baguio city motel on Sunday, May 30.

According to a report by the Philippine Daily Inquirer, the 21-year-old along with a male companion asked the driver to bring them to their respective homes. Her male companion was safely brought to Gibraltar village. However, the driver refused to bring the female student to her home. She was instead brought to Nova Lodge where she was supposedly assaulted.

The victim said the driver allowed her to leave the room around noontime. She went to her friends to ask for help.

When the police team arrived at the motel, the suspect was found hanging from a shower pipe in an apparent suicide. Two black shoe laces were looped around his neck.

The taxi driven by the suspect was found in the motel garage.
