“In a rare ambush interview on Friday, September 27, Janet Lim Napoles defended former Sandiganbayan Associate Justice Gregory Ong who was dismissed by the Supreme Court for his links to the alleged architect of the multibillion-peso pork barrel scam,” reports Atom Araullo on ABS-CBNnews.com.
The report noted: “Napoles insisted that she began interacting with Ong outside the court only in 2012, some two years after she was acquitted by the latter from the questionable purchase of Kevlar helmets for the Philippine Marines.”
Napoles explained that Ong, who was suffering from a prostate problem, sought her help to get access to the Black Nazarene. It has been revealed that Napoles had close links with Monsignor Josefino Ramirez, the former rector of Quiapo Church where the image is safeguarded.
Napoles said in Pilipino: “The case was dismissed in 2010. But it was only in 2012 that he asked Monsignor Ramirez for the clothes of the Black Nazarene because he was sick. So, there’s no connection to his appearance at my office to the case because it was already dismissed in 2010.”
