It’s official: Duterte is President and Robredo is VP

Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte and Camarines Sur 3rd District Rep. Leni Robredo have officially won the May 9 presidential and vice-presidential polls. This is based on the final tally of votes by Congress sitting as the National Board of Canvassers.

Duterte got 16,601,997 votes, while Robredo garnered 14,418,817 votes.

Duterte was already the clear winner of the presidential race early on. In the final tally, he was 6,623,822 votes ahead of his closest rival, Liberal Party (LP) standard bearer Mar Roxas.

Robredo was locked in a very tight race against Senator Bongbong Marcos. In the end, she beat him by 263,473.

If all goes well Duterte and Robredo may be proclaimed as President and VP, respectively come Mon, May 30.
