Iris Tolenada is top pick for PSL rookie draft

As expected earlier, California Collegiate Athletic Association MVP Awardee Iris Tolenada emerged the no. 1 pick at the PSL rookie draft held yesterday.

Tolenada was born to Filipino parents and was born and raised in the United States. “Some of her credentials include the Female Athlete of the Year for San Francisco State in 2012 and 2013 and MVP for the California Athletic Association,” reports Bong Lozada on Inquirer.net.

University of the Philippines’ Angeli Araneta went to Foton as second overall pick, while Rica Jane Enclona of College of St. Benilde went to Cignal as third overall pick.

The report continues, “National University spiker Rizza Mandapat was the fourth overall pick and will now be part of Shopinas, formerly Generika.

“Another CSB product, Therese Veronas we t to expansion team Shacman as the fifh overall pick while defending champions Petron picked up Alexa Micek from North Carolina State University with the sixth pick.”

The All-Filipino conference of PSL will begin on March 21.
