Youtube sensations the HiHo kids are back and this time, they’re trying out food from a restaurant close to every Filipino’s heart — Jollibee.
The web channel posted their Jollibee video yesterday, garnering over 760,000 views, 11,000 likes, and 10,000 shares.
All the kids tried out Chicken Joy, and it earned a lot of love.
Maddox, considered a fan favorite, said: “It’s good. Better than Popeye’s [chicken] which is extremely rare.” He also added that “Chicken Joy” was a good name since it “makes you happy.”
Newbie Wyatt, who has never tried eating fried chicken or fastfood, ate the Chicken Joy from the bottom part of the leg. Uhm, what?
The children also tried out the restaurant’s sweet-style spaghetti. After a bite, Maddox said: “Jollibee, you’re on to something.”
And finally, dessert. All of the children tried Jollibee’s peach mango pie and by golly, and things got messy. Like, a lot messy.
All in all though, the kids pretty much enjoyed the whole thing, and they looked darn cute doing so.
Many of the fans though commented on Wyatt’s relatively strange eating habits.
Erin Venable said: “What the hell does the kid with glasses eat? He [Wyatt] never had fast food, he’s never tried chicken, he doesn’t know what pasta is.”
Also referring to Wyatt, Nichole Venditti added: “Ok. Someone’s parents need to take this as the first step to get out of their bubble. How does a kid not have McDonald’s at least once in his life, or know what the hell spaghetti is?!”
But another fan defended the boy. “I actually eat my drumsticks like that. I start from the bottom. Don’t judge us,” wrote Tshawn Smith.
Yet some fans simply enjoyed watching the video.
Take this netizen who ended having a huge craving after watching, and drove three hours to get to the nearest Jollibee branch. “Had to drive over three hours to Houston to satisfy my #Jollibee cravings. I hope they open a branch in Dallas soon,” wrote Lj Salceda Schroeder.
One Filipino commenter felt envious of the generous amount of gravy the kids were served. Veronika Croft wrote, “That is a huge serving of gravy. Here in the Philippines, you’re lucky if they’re feeling generous and [would] add more than a drop. #GravyEquality”
And one netizen named Domerose Gutierrez Brabante asked the producers to come up with a part two, one that will include the other HiHo kids: Desmond, Suvi, Clara, and Crystal.
The Kids Try series is produced by Cut, a company based in Seattle.
This isn’t the first time the HiHo kids tried Filipino food. In July 2017, they tried out various Filipino snacks such as Moby, Haw Haw Milk Candy, and Potchi.
