International airfares to include terminal fee starting October 1

Here’s to some small mercies.

“According to the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA), international airline tickets to be purchased starting next month will already include the PHP550 service charge or terminal fee,” reports Darwin G. Amojelar on InterAksyon.com.

That means the fee “will be integrated in the airline ticket at the point of sale starting October 1.”

Terminal fees for domestic flights were incorporated in airfares starting last month.

Meanwhile, MIAA said the following are exempt from paying the terminal fee provided they present at the point of sale an exemption certificate duly issued by the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) or the airport authority:

1. Overseas Filipino workers with overseas employment certificate issued by POEA;

2. Pilgrims endorsed by the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos with exemption certificate issued by MIAA;

3. Athletes endorsed by the Philippine Sports Commission with exemption certificate issued by MIAA; and

4. Others who are authorized by the Office of the President.
