Interesting ways to help Yolanda victims

When it comes to being creative helping Yolanda victims, Angel Locsin, who donated her 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle to the Sagip Foundation (so they can auction it and eventually help Yolanda victims, of course) is not alone. Check out the following creative do-gooders.

LEMONADE GIRLS

A couple of girls sold lemonade and ice tea “to help typhoon families” and managed to raise $200, which they turned over to UNICEF.

The “Philippines Typhoon Relief – Hugs” video shows two men with Asian features who said they’d donate $1 for every hug they get (eventually upping it to $5 per hug). Interestingly, people gave out cash, as well. In the end, they ended up with $335 they said they will donate to Red Cross Philippines.

Had a fundraising dinner (they raised about 1500 euros), serving both Pinoy and foreign foodies some pansit, barbecue, puto, kutsinta, macaroons – and lechon. (Photo: Philippines Club de Catalunya Facebook page)

The TV host, writer, and editor, didn’t just donate canned goods, she even wrote some words of encouragement for the recipients. Such a small gesture but it sure makes a big difference.

YABU, RYU, AND OTHER RESTAURANTS

Restaurants sure made helping so easy and enjoyable when they offered to donate sales to Yolanda victims. For example, Ryu Ramen & Curry donated lunch sales from Nov. 18 to 21 to countrymen affected by Yolanda, while Yabu had its “Dine for a Cause” project where 100% of profits from Nov. 13 went to victims of the typhoon.

MIKEY BUSTOS

YouTube video

The YouTube sensation did a couple of hugathons, charging a minimum donation of PHP100 for a hug and a selfie (and even a muscle touch). He made PHP45,000, and even had a part two, which got him an extra PHP10,000. PS, Mikey brought his pet pig to help out.
