Prior to his appointment as Bureau of Customs chief, the companies of Alberto “Bert” Lina were involved in a number of issues that required further investigation of the authorities.

Several of the said cases were handled by Joel Pinawin, who is now the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Customs Intelligence and Investigation (CIIS) chief.

Now, Lina is the BOC chief.

Now, BOC employees are reportedly talking about the incident that happened involving Lina and Pinawin last May 11. According to Pinawin, Lina called him out right after their flag-raising ceremony and then proceeded to announce that he was now in charge of making sure that the toilets at NAIA were clean.

Now, there is a recording of Lina actually saying that. His exact words to Pinawin: “Sinabi ko na kung ano ang mangyayari dito. Ikaw ang mag-i-inspect sa lahat ng facilities. That is part  of your job. So, gusto ko makita na malinis lahat ng toilets dito sa buong NAIA, OK? Gagawin mo o hindi?”

The dressing down was done in front of many employees. Pinawin later complained that he felt humiliated by Lina’s actions. Pinawin also said that even the cleaning crew at NAIA have made him the butt of their jokes because of what Lina did.

But, wait, that’s not all. Lina further referred to Linawin’s “grade in English.”
