Inspired by cardboard justice? College beauty pageant contestants flaunt flaws in EJK-themed photo shoot

(Update: The album has been deleted from the pageant’s FB page)

This was clearly an attempt to spread the word about the human cost of the government’s war against drugs, but we’re not sure if it’s sending the right message.

The Facebook page of a pageant organized by a university in Manila uploaded an album from a photoshoot inspired by “extrajudicial killings.”

Wrap your head around that for a moment.

“The candidates of Mr. and Ms. Engineering 2017 flaunt their flaws this EJK- Themed Photoshoot,” the album was captioned.

Some of the men played dead. Some of the ladies wrapped their bodies in packaging tape.

All of them have cardboard signs on their bodies. However, in lieu of the usual phrase “I’m a drug pusher,” the perceived “flaws” of the contestants were written on the cardboards instead.

One girl said that she has a “gummy smile.” Another one said she “panics fast.” One of the guy’s said that he has “no facial hair.”

Hard to imagine? Take a look at some the photos yourself.

The album has been receiving mixed comments on Facebook and Reddit.

“I am completely disappointed… I should say that this is very inappropriate,” said an alumna of the university.

“Ugh in such a bad taste, and this is supposed to be a school event?” said a Reddit user.

Bizarre? Distasteful? Or socially relevant art? You decide.
