Things are looking grim.

“The Attorney General’s Office (AGO) of Indonesia released a letter ordering the execution of 10 convicts with drug-related charges on Friday, the Jakarta Post reported. AGO Spokesperson Tony Spontana said the letter was dated April 23,” reports Rie Takumi on GMA News Online.

The report noted: “The execution will be carried out after the conclusion of the 60th Asian-African Conference Commemoration in Indonesia on April 24.”

The report recalled that “Indonesia earlier asked foreign embassies to send representatives to the prison island of Nusakambangan to prepare them for their execution.”

Meanwhile, Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Secretary Albert del Rosario said “no execution will take place until the Philippine government receives an official notification from Indonesia.”

De Rosario stated: “The protocol calls for 72 hours to be given to the convicted person and the respective embassies. We have not received anything. From the time we receive it they cannot execute within three days.”
