Indian in Makati City hit-and-run charged

Makati City police have filed charges against the Indian-Filipino businessman who was said to have been involved in a hit-and-run case over the weekend.

The incident killed a motorcycle driver named Henrix Bernardo. His companion, Glenn Nacion Jr., was seriously hurt.

Makati City police chief Senior Superintendent Manuel Lukban said they have filed charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, physical injuries and abandonment of one’s victim against Rajiv Ramesh Dargani, said to be the President of Sunglass Hut Philippines.

According to reports, Dargani reached out to the police, asking them not to file the case and saying he would surrender. However, the agreed time had passed and the Indian national did not show up. Dargani was positively identified as the driver of a luxury car that ran into Bernardo’s motorcycle along McKinley Road past 3 a.m. Saturday.
