INC spokesperson to ex-minister: ‘Bakit hindi ang mga humuhuli sa kanya ang tinatanong n’ya?’

In an interview which aired on radio dzMM on Tue, Jan 19, Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) spokesperson Edwil Zabala denied that the group had anything to do with the serving of the arrest warrant against the former minister Lowell Menorca.

The warrant is from a libel case against Menorca. It was served by a court in Katapagan, Lanao del Norte.

“The arrest warrant against Menorca which triggered a standoff between policemen and Menorca’s family at Quirino Avenue corner Roxas Boulevard in Manila,” reports Aries Joseph Hegina on Inquirer.net.

Zabala said, “Kung merong sine-serve na arrest warrant, harapin niya kasi hindi naman ang organisasyon ang umaaresto sa kanya (If an arrest warrant is served, he must face it because it is not the organization that is arresting him).”

Zabala refuted Menorca’s claim that the INC has a hand in the serving of the arrest warrant, saying, “Opinyon po ‘yun sa bahagi (ni Menorca). Bakit hindi ang mga humuhuli sa kanya ang tinatanong n’ya (That’s his opinion. Why won’t he ask those who are arresting him)?”
