Fifty million pesos for the Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) block vote.
Two posers who claimed to be influential members of the INC are now behind bars for trying to extort P50 million from the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA). UNA spokesman Toby Tiangco said the two were arrested in an entrapment operation inside a hotel in Mandaluyong. He said he received a message from a certain Ka Tony about the possibility of boosting the chances of two of the party’s senatorial bets.
The two claimed that they could influence INC’s leaders to include these two names in the list of candidates that they would endorse for the May 13 elections.
According to the Philippine Star, a minister of the INC assisted in having the two arrested. He confirmed that they were not members of the religious group.
