A Bureau of Immigration (BI) official slapping a female Chinese national at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3. The report by ABS-CBN News correspondent Zen Hernandez on TV Patrol didn’t say who took the video.
It was later revealed that the 38-year-old Chinese woman seen in the video was prevented from entering the country because she had been illegally working as a teacher in the Philippines.
Her Cebu Pacific flight from from Beijing landed in Manila on May 5, early morning.
BI spokesperson Maan Pedro said that the woman had gone berserk when she was informed that she was going to be denied entry to the country. Efforts to deport her were halted because she continued to be violent to the BI officers.
The BI admitted that both the immigration officer and the woman were at fault for the incident. The immigration official would be suspended for using force on the woman. They will likewise be filing assault charges against the Chinese woman.
The Chinese embassy has been informed of the incident and the BI officials say they understood the situation.
The woman continues to be at a holding cell in NAIA 3.
