Bureau of Immigration (BI) authorities managed to arrest once again the Korean fugitive who escaped their detention facility last week while waiting to be deported.

Officers of the bureau’s Intelligence Division and Fugitive Search Unit reportedly arrested Kang Juchun, 38, in a condominium unit in San Juan City.

In a statement, the BI said that Kang escaped their detention center in Taguig City last week, climbing a 20-foot fence with barbed wires in the wee hours of the morning. The Korean fugitive took advantage of a blind spot in the center’s CCTV system, falling on a concrete road as he escaped.

Kang was arrested at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport on February 10 after arriving from Bangkok. He has been put on Interpol red notice for charges of murder and abandonment of a dead body.

Authorities also arrested two other Korean nationals, identified as Lim Kyung Sup and Kim Mi Kyung, who were allegedly hiding Kang.

The BI added that the three Korean nationals may face additional drug-related charges after they were found with one kilo of methamphetamine or shabu, with an estimate of PHP10.2 million (US$180,642).
