The youngest son of Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos is also joining politics.

Matthew Joseph Marcos Manotoc, 26, is expected to file his certificate of candidacy (COC) on Fri, Oct 16, for Ilocos Norte board member, sources said.

“I will be trying to help the province, my mother as well,” Manotoc said.

“My background is really more inclined in sports so I’d like to continue that in sports. And then like what I said, I am only 26, also for the youth,” he said.

He added, “My mom also mentioned couple of problems facing the province in terms of students — drop-out rates, pregnancy, and even suicides which is very alarming. Hopefully, we can find a way to ensure that the students are happier.”

Matthew is one of Imee’s three sons with former husband, Tommy Manotoc. He is the brother of commercial model Fernando Martin “Borgy” Manotoc and Atty. Michael Manotoc.

His uncle, Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., filed his candidacy for vice president on Tuesday. (from a report by Grace Alba, ABS-CBN News North Luzon)
