No, the world is not coming to an end. It’s just that a member of the Marcos clan has given a compliment (or something like it) to an Aquino.
“Ilocos Norte Gov. Imee Marcos and President Noynoy Aquino had a ‘lighthearted’ moment during the pictorial of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) general assembly at the Manila Hotel,” reports ABS-CBN News correspondent RG Cruz on ABS-CBNnews.com.
In fact, the report said it was Aquino who invited Marcos to stand beside him during the photo-op.
According to the report, “Marcos also told media men that Aquino responds to her text messages quickly whenever she has to ask help during disasters.”
She acknowledged though that there was a rift between her relatives and the government over the response to super typhoon Yolanda’s destruction in Leyte.
As everyone knows, Leyte’s top officials include Marcos’ cousins, Tacloban Mayor Alfred Romualdez and Rep. Martin Romualdez. The Romualdez-Marcos and Cojuangco-Aquino clans are long-time political rivals.
Well, hopefully, someday some sort of truce could be called between the two clans. It would be sad if they just seem like friends when they’re in front of cameras.
