Two Ilocos Sur cops were charged with murder after a 15-year-old girl who accused them of molestation was gunned down by motorcycle-riding assailants.

Staff Sergeants Randy Ramos and Marawi Torda, both of whom are assigned at the San Juan Municipal Police Station, have been charged in connection with the killing, the Philippine National Police (PNP) announced yesterday. The two are currently detained at the Ilocos Sur Police Provincial Office in the town of Bantay.

The teen was killed by unidentified assailants on Thursday last week, after filing acts of lasciviousness charges against the two policemen. According to the Cabugao police, Ramos and Torda took advantage of her and her 18-year-old cousin after they were arrested for violating the town curfew. Both teenagers were reportedly intoxicated, but the 15-year-old managed to escape the policemen. However, the cops allegedly raped her 18-year-old cousin.

Ilocos Sur police chief Colonel Ronald Tagao told Rappler that they are uncertain if Ramos and Torda killed the girl, but said that they believe that the duo is involved in the crime.

PNP Chief General Archie Gamboa has ordered the regional police director of Ilocos Sur to provide security to the 18-year-old rape victim, who is also suing the suspects, as well as her family.

”They are not men in uniform but animals who deserve to be jailed for life. They have no remorse, no heart, they’re useless policemen,” said Gamboa.
