How big is Manila International Airport Authority’s “phone problem”?

If, for some reason, you’ve recently been trying to call the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) and haven’t had any luck, you can finally conclude that “It’s not you, it’s them.” Because it is.

“Telephones at the MIAA offices, including the Airport Dignitaries Lounge and Airport Public Affairs Office, have been unreachable for the past three weeks,” reports Raoul Esperas on ABS-CBNnews.com.

The report further revealed that “MIAA general manager Jose Angel Honrado has already written a formal letter to Philippine Long Distance Telephone (PLDT) president Napoleon Nazareno asking the them to check the airport’s problems with their telephone system.” As such, the report noted that “Honrado apologized to the public for the inconvenience caused by the phone problem. He advised the public to monitor the airlines’ websites to check flight information.”

According to the report, “an average of 1500 calls are received by the MIAA every day to about 700 trunk lines using 150 lines of PLDT.” *For now, the public will have to manage their frustrations.
