The government’s critics are reportedly calling it “election budget.”
“The House of Representatives approved on second reading late Friday the P2.606-trillion national budget for 2015, by far the biggest appropriation for the country, and dubbed by some quarters an ‘election budget” that could be mobilized for the 2016 polls,” reports Lira Dalangin-Fernandez on InterAksyon.com.
According to the report, “Speaker Sonny Belmonte said that after approval of the budget, the lawmakers are tasked to exercise the chamber’s oversight functions to see that the budget is spent well.”
Congress goes on break starting September 27 up to October 19.
