The The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) announced that Metro Manila experienced its hottest day of the year on Wednesday, May 13, when the temperature hit 36°C.
PAGASA said the hottest temperature of the year was recorded at the Science Garden in Quezon City at 1 p.m.
PAGASA said the temperature reached 35.4°C at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, 35.5°C. in General Santos City, 34.5°C. in Tuguegarao, and 34.9 °C. in Cabanatuan.
PAGASA said the heat index — or the temperature felt by the human body — reached 40.2°C in Metro Manila, 39.5°C.Tuguegarao, 40.2°C. in Laoag, and 38.5°C in Metro Cebu.
The state weather bureau said the hottest day ever recorded in Metro Manila was 38.5°C on May 14, 1987.
