Hong Kong cancels visa-free privileges for PH gov’t officials

We saw this one coming.

“Hong Kong will cancel visa-free arrangements for Philippine officials and diplomatic passport holders in the first phase of sanctions against the country over its alleged failure to resolve to the August 2010 bus hostage crisis that ended with the death of eight HK tourists at Rizal Park in Manila,” reports InterAksyon.com.

The current visa-free arrangement for visiting Filipino diplomats and officials will be suspended starting next month, Feb 5 to be exact. Pundits say Pinoys should expect even more sanctions to be implemented.

Prior to this cancellation, Filipino officials were able to stay in Hong Kong for 14 days sans visas.
