Honeycomb, a new coworking space, opens in Mandaluyong

If you build it, will they come?

Coworking spaces—a hipper and younger version of a daily rental office where you can make new business contacts and enjoy endless supply of coffee—started in the US to cater to tech start-ups looking for an alternative to working in cafés or the garage.

While Manila has yet to build a culture of Mark Zuckerberg wannabes, we’re still excited about Honeycomb Manila Coworking, where it’s about the people, not the space. It’s “the cure for the common cube,” according to its promotional material. “Additional benefits are the cross-pollination of inspiration, ideas, and even clients.”

We confess: Looking at photos of their clean and sleek grown-up space makes us hunker down and finish the day’s work. The specialty coffee coupon and promise of high-speed Internet connection seal the deal.

The newly opened Honeycomb, run by HoneycombCommunities, “a marketing consultancy firm specializing in Internet media,” is a collaborative, “open office” within the EDSA Beverage Design Studio in Mandaluyong.

Edsa Design Studio, 209 Edsa, CLMC Bldg, Mandaluyong; www.manilacoworking.com. Mon-Sat 9am-10pm. PHP400 daily pass, PHP7250 monthly resident.
