Numbers don’t lie, but people do. Just saying.
“The Philippine National Police (PNP) recorded low crime incidence in Metro Manila and other parts of the country in the run-up to Christmas,” reports Non Alquitran in The Philippine Star.
Deputy Director General Felipe Rojas Jr said the low rate of petty crimes was due to the PNP’s Police Integrated Patrolling System (PIPS), a program that involves more police officers doing patrols in areas where people converge like malls and commercial establishments.
But as to how low incidents of crimes are this time of the year, Rojas did not say. Rather, he maintained that reports reaching his office are “exact figures” since officers found to be tampering crime statistics would be given the boot.
We wonder why this police official won’t disclose the actual figures to support his claim?
