Through Senator Grace Poe’s Twitter page, her staff confirmed that she rode the Metro Railway Transit (MRT) on Friday morning, August 29.
Poe’s staff tweeted: “We confirm that Sen. Poe took the MRT at around 8:20 am from North Ave. station to Taft Ave.”
In their Facebook statement, Poe’s staff said she rode the MRT “to gain firsthand experience of the current situation of MRT commuters in preparation for the Senate hearing on the MRT incident on September 1, Monday, 10am at the Senate Session Hall. Up for discussion are SB 2266 (Natl Transportation Safety Board Act) and SRs 839, 840 and 841 (derailing of MRT-3 last Aug. 13.”
Poe rode the MRT coach designated for women, the elderly, children, and PWDs.
Other reports say she said that the experience was “not hopeless.”
