On Apr 8, Wanderland Music Festival, via its Facebook page, released its complete lineup for its May 17 affair. On its second year, Wanderland is looking bigger and better what with Brooklyn’s The Drums headling the show and the likes of Papercuts, Architecture in Helsinki, Royal Concept providing solid support. The local scene is well-represented, too—Franco, Techy Romantics, Chocolate Grass, just to name some. Not to mention the local art scene with JP Cuison, Deejae Pa’este, and Anjo Borlada.
Festival veterans will tell you to not go as soon as gates open because by the time the main act comes up the stage, you will be exhausted and done for the day. Of course you don’t listen to them if you want to see the openers—usually, these are bands strong enough to open a music festival.
While we’re waiting for Wanderland to confirm things, allow us to share with you something we’ve learned from festival veterans. Let the poster guide you into estimating what time the band you came to the festival for will be hitting the stage. Here’s the trick: Read the band lineup backwards; more often than not, that is the band sequence on festival day. As in: Headliners, or the bands that have the top billing/first mention usually play last, second mention are usually the penultimate band and so it goes. The last act on the band lineup poster are usually the openers of the show.
So check out that poster from Wanderland and start estimatin’. You wouldn’t want to be all lola’d out by the time The Drums comes on because you will want to dance to them, for sure. We mean, listen:
Wanderland Music Festival happens on May 17 at the Globe Circuit Events Ground. PHP3,000 (earlybird rate).
