15 boys caught in Recto Avenue rumble, youngest is just 11

It’s easy to have kids — but raising them involves a lot more than what some parents are able to do.

There were 15 underage boys — the youngest only 11 years old and the oldest just 15 years old — who were rounded up for engaging in a rumble on Manila’s Recto Avenue itself.

The ABS-CBN News crew arrived on the scene when the rumble was still ongoing. The boys, who were armed with bottles and pieces of wood, attacked each other in the middle of the street. They didn’t seem to care when vehicles passed by.

Eventually, barangay officials arrived at the scene and rounded up the boys. Barangay captain Honey Perez said that they have imposed a 10pm curfew for minors in the area, but nobody seems to be keen on heeding it.

Naturally, the visibly exasperated Perez is just one of those who welcome incoming President Rodrigo Duterte’s plan to arrest the parents to the minors who break his own planned 10pm curfew for minors nationwide.

Duterte’s proposed scheme applies to minors who are not accompanied by their parents. Hopefully, his scheme will put a stop to the rumbles that break out in certain areas of Metro Manila late at night or during the so-called unholy hours.
