You would think that professional basketball players would no longer get judged for their height — but apparently that’s not the case.
“According to former national team head coach Chot Reyes, the Gilas Pilipinas coaching staff decided to go for size when they cut Calvin Abueva and LA Tenorio from the the final lineup of the national men’s basketball team that will compete in the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament,” reports Marisse Panaligan on GMA News Online.
Below is the final lineup of Gilas Pilipinas for the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament announced by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas:
- Andray Blatche
- Jayson Castro
- June Mar Fajardo
- Gabe Norwood
- Japeth Aguilar
- Ranidel de Ocampo
- Terence Romeo
- Marc Pingris
- Jeff Chan
- Ray Parks
- Ryan Reyes
- Troy Rosario
The report noted: “The guards Romeo and Reyes both have the upsize on the 5’8″ Tenorio, while forwards Parks and Rosario are also taller than the 6-foot-2 Abueva.”
