Heavy rains cause class suspensions in Metro Manila, provinces

The Palace suspended classes in Metro Manila and in nearby provinces Monday morning due to heavy rains and floods caused by Tropical Storm “Maring”.

In a statement, Presidential spokersperson Edwin Lacierda announced “the Executive Secretary has ordered the suspension of classes in all levels over Pangasinan, Benguet, Bataan, Zambales, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Rizal, Laguna, Cavite, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro and Metro Manila.”

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration had recommended the suspension of classes after heavy rains over Metro Manila and parts of Luzon over the weekend.

Government offices will also be closed for the day except for agencies involved in disaster risk reduction and management. Work at courts in Metro Manila, Antipolo City, and Bulacan have also been suspended because of the weather.
