Hopefully this solves the whole MRT/LRT conundrum.

Passengers of the Metro Rail Transit-3 (MRT-3) can now purchase the new Beep cards in five stations — North Avenue, Cubao, Shaw Blvd, Ayala Avenue and Taft Avenue — though the new ticketing system will not be rolled out until Oct 3.

The tap-and-go reloadable cards, manufactured by AF Payments, are being sold for PHP100; PHP20 is for the card fee, the remaining PHP80 can be used for fare. Unlike the cards currently in circulation that last only six month, these can be used for up to four years. You can load up to PHP10,000 on each card.

A total of 50,000 pieces are being sold this week. The Beep card can be used on all three train lines in Metro Manila. With reporting from ABS-CBN News.
