The Department of Transportation (DOTr) is optimistic that the backlog of 5.2 million driver’s license plastic cards will soon be addressed by the Land Transportation Office (LTO) and the winning bidder for the contract.

Banner Plastic Card, Inc. has been issued the Notice to Proceed, as they emerged as the successful bidder for the project. In a recent statement, DOTr’s Undersecretary for Administration and Finance, Kim Robert De Leon, mentioned that they expect the company to deliver approximately one million plastic cards for driver’s licenses within the next 60 days.

De Leon emphasized their commitment to swiftly resolve the backlogs and normalize the supply of license cards. They are determined to ensure that Banner efficiently fulfills its delivery obligations.

Earlier, the LTO extended the validity of expiring driver’s licenses from April 24 to October 31.

Furthermore, the LTO plans to introduce a digitalized version of their services, which will include online permit renewal, registration, and payment transactions for the convenience of the public.
