No longer the same zoo from your childhood, Manila Zoo has just received a facelift—from its amenities to even its own name.
Based on photos released by the Manila city government, Manila Zoo will now be known as Manila Zoological, with new features to look out for such as a botanical garden, a souvenir shop, and a station for Philippine endemic animals.
The zoo also features a modern facade with hints of native material such as bamboo, large elephant structures and light installations, and alleyways shaded by large trees.
Manila mayor Isko Moreno was seen touring the new Manila Zoo, along with vice mayor Honey Lacuña.
Earlier this year, the Manila mayor hinted at the opening of the new Manila Zoo, adding that the city would finally have a zoo that could compete with the Singapore Zoo.
