With unrivaled beaches, the country’s “last frontier” is attracting more and more tourists and travelers each year. The growth of tourism in the area is proving to be unstoppable.
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) on Wednesday inaugurated the new PHP4.5 billion modern airport terminal complex in Barangay San Miguel, Puerto Princesa City.
The Puerto Princesa International Airport is now ready to accommodate local and international flights starting today, May 4.
The resort-inspired structure is said to be as beautiful as the destination itself.
According to GMA News, the airport “includes a 13,000- square meter airport terminal with a seating capacity of 1,500; a parking slot for over 200 cars; a 2,600-meter runway which can accommodate an Airbus A330, a bigger aircraft with a seating capacity for 400 persons; and six parking bays.”
It can accomodate as much as 20 flights a day. It is expected to boost trade and tourism in the region.
A regional airport in San Vicente Palawan is also expected to open next year, reports Palawan News.
