Even the best-laid plans may encounter some challenges, but the folks at the Commission on Elections (Comelec) are confident that they won’t be encountering glitches on Election Day.
On Sun, May 8, the Comelec stated that it is now fully ready for the synchronized national and local elections on Mon, May 9.
“Comelec spokesman James Jimenez told reporters that no problems have been encountered so far, even in the final testing and sealing (FTS) of vote counting machines (VCMs),” reports RG Cruz on ABS-CBNnews.com.
Jimenez was quoted as saying, “So far, [there are] no hitches. The FTS has been green across the board. There have been some issues regarding late arrivals but it looks like it will be done within the allotted time, which is today. We have no major discrepancies or faults in that area.”
The report noted: “Jimenez again disputed claims by Davao Rep. Karlo Nograles that ballot machines counted votes inaccurately during final tests.” He clarified, “He talked to Comelec chair Andes Bautista when that FTS was done. No such incident occurred.”
