What was supposed to be the happiest time of the year turned bleak when a man died while trying to stop a fight between his cousins during a family reunion on Christmas Day in Tuguegarao City.
Bombo Radyo identified the victim as Elmar Laguinday, a resident in the village of Cabatuan.
According to Senior Insp. Ponciano Taliping, the victim was only trying to stop cousins Jayson and Joel Gadde from fighting when the two allegedly transferred their rage to him.
They allegedly struck the victim’s head with a plank of wood with a nail on it and hit him on the head with a stone, resulting to his death.
Authorities found that the suspects were drunk when the incident happened, Bombo Radyo reported.
The suspects are now in police custody.
