‘Gunmen on EDSA’ incident still a mystery?

So far, nobody has come forward to shed light on what really happened.

“An ‘operation’ staged by armed men who were seen taking the occupants of a Toyota Fortuner along EDSA in Mandaluyong City last Monday, September 1, was caught by a CCTV camera,” reports Non Alquitran and Cecille Suerte Felipe in The Philippine Star.

However, the report revealed that “the video is blurred and investigators are having difficulty getting the images of the gunmen and the plate number of their vehicles.”

According to Mandaluyong police chief Senior Superintendent Tyrone Masigon, they are “coordinating with Senior Superintendent Gilbert Sosa, head of the Philippine National Police’s Anti-Cybercrime Group, to enhance the images on the video.”

Masigon explained that “nobody has gone to the city police to report the incident in order for investigators to determine if it was a carjacking, a kidnapping or a legitimate police operation—though no government agency has owned up to it.”

The report added that “a witness interviewed by TV5 claimed he saw the incident and heard the armed men commanding the driver of the Fortuner to alight from his vehicle.” The witness said he heard the gunmen mention something about a child.
