Guess who joined the ‘selfie’ craze

“After TIME magazine named the country’s financial center as the world’s self-photograph capital, retired Lingayen Archbishop Oscar Cruz took his first selfie on Thursday, Mar 13,” reports Leslie Ann G. Aquino on Tempo Online.

But, no, Cruz didn’t share his selfie on Instagram.

Get this: He sent his selfie to a friend via multimedia system (MMS). (The report, however, did not identify Cruz’s friend who received the said MMS selfie.)

The report quoted Cruz’s text message, wherein he said, “I just did one (selfie) this AM – while facing a mirror!” He went on to explain: “My phone is as old as me. If I attempt to get my own picture without facing the mirror, I’ll just probably get a shot of my hair or an ear. It’s okay at least I attempted to do a selfie.”

We wonder how Novaliches Bishop Emeritus Teodoro Bacani, Jr. will react to Cruz’s selfie, as he has referred to selfies as manifestations of selfishness. In any case, Cruz’s selfie doesn’t even show his face, so maybe it’s not too selfish in Bacani’s eyes.
