Group calls for P55 minimum wage hike in MM

With Labor Day fast approaching, labor groups wage increase of at least P55 in Metro manila.

Metro Manila Wage Board chief Alan Macaraya earlier announced that a decision on the group’s 85-peso wage increase petition will be released soon.

The Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (TUCP) spokesman Alan Tanjusay said they are both hoping and expecting the Board will issue a wage increase of P55 or more. Their original request was for P85 for minimum wage earners in Metro Manila. In their petition, the TUCP said a family of six in Metro Manila would need at least P1,200 a day to survive, the Journal reported.
