A grenade was thrown at the Sta. Ana Police Station in Manila past 1 a.m. on Thu, Apr 9, but it failed to explode. The Explosives and Ordnance Division was called in immediately to detonate the M-26 fragmentation hand grenade.
No one was hurt in the incident.
The Manila Police District (MPD) Bomb Squad said it is possible that the grenade did not explode as it was already old.
The police suspect that the incident may have something to do with the recent anti-illegal drug operations they have conducted.
A surveillance footage showed a sports utility vehicle and another car passing in front of the station before the incident.
The car’s window was even rolled down, as if someone inside was looking at the station. —report from Francis Faulve, ABS-CBN News; and Zhander Cayabyab, dzMM
