Grenade lobbed at Fairview police station

Two unidentified men on board a motorcycle lobbed an “empty” grenade at the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Station 5 in Fairview before dawn on Monday.

The incident broke a portion of the station’s glass door but did not explode because the secondary pin was still attached, QCPD director Senior Superintendent Richard Albano said.

Explosives and Ordnance Division chief Inspector Noel Sublay said in a Philippine Star report that the grenade was real. However, its explosive content has been removed, rendering it unserviceable. Police added that the serial number on the grenade was also erased, making it difficult to trace its origins.
