Grenade explodes in Bilibid, 3 inmates wounded

How the hell do they smuggle explosives inside the prison?

“New Bilibid Prison (NBP) inmates Mubarak Damdamun, Hosticio Lastimoso Jr., and Ab Racman were wounded when a grenade exploded inside the maximum security compound of the jail facility last Dec 31,” reports Aie Balagtas See in The Philippine Star.

The three inmates are now confined at the NBP Hospital. Police only made the incident public earlier this week.

According to the report, Damdamun, Lastimoso, and Racman were sleeping inside the mosque at the prison facility when someone hurled a grenade on the roof at around 11pm. The blast damaged the ceiling and walls of the mosque were damaged.

This isn’t the first time a grenade exploded inside NBP. In November 2012, six inmates were injured when a grenade went off in the maximum security compound.

At this point, we realize that the phrase, “maximum security,” is an oxymoron.
